Authentic Oldies music from the 1940's through the 1970's

Lee Silver Productions owns and administers a vast catalog (masters and publishing) of authentic oldies music from the 1940's through the 1970's in the genres of Northern Soul, Doo Wop, Rhythm and Blues, Surf, Rockabilly, Country, Jazz and many more.

Our music has been placed in many network and cable television shows, feature and independent films in addition to the long running Nair commercial ("Short Shorts") and the hit Broadway show "Jersey Boys". What sets us apart from other catalogs is our ability to offer a one-stop immediate clearance while delivering a wide spectrum of authentic oldies. In addition, many of our songs can be found on our record label, Tru-Gems Records.

Our founder, Lee Silver, a legendary record producer entered the music business as a song writer and singer in New York producing and singing his own demonstration records and presenting them to leading recording artists of the time. Lee's first success as a song writer was in 1951 with a song that he composed titled "Fire" which was recorded by Les Paul and Mary Ford for Capitol Records.

Lee has always had the ability to recognize the potential talent in the artists he has worked with, some of the more recognizable are The Royal Teens (Bob Gaudio, who later founded the Four Seasons), Herb Alpert (of The Tijuana Brass and co-founder of A & M Records), and Bobby Hart who wrote all of the Monkees' television show hits and also wrote with his co-partner, Tommy Boyce of the famed song writing team Boyce and Hart.

Lee signed the group The Royal Teens to his own label, Power Records, and produced their first hit record, "Short Shorts" which was then leased to ABC Paramount Record Company. This recording sold over one million copies and Lee continued as the Royal Teens producer until their contract expired with ABC. He then placed them with Capitol Records, where he produced another one of their chart records, "Believe Me" which went to number 20 on the Billboard charts.

While in California in the early 1960's, Lee received a call from Herb Alpert who was looking for material for a group he was producing called Jan and Dean. Lee had acquired the song "Baby Talk" for his publishing company and asked Herb to record it with Jan and Dean. The recording went on to sell over one million copies and it was at that time that Herb and Lee being very well acquainted, decided to form Lash Records and had many more releases on their label. Later on, Herb established another label, A&M Records, which in its day, was one of the major independent record companies.

In 1961, Lee signed the group The Pentagons, and produced their rhythm and blues hit, "To Be Loved" which peaked at number 48 on the national charts. Lee also produced and worked with legendary rockabilly artist Jody Reynolds ("Endless Sleep", a million-seller in 1958), among other artists.
